I ordered two over and eggs, two sausage links and a cup of Joe. I couldn't tell if the coffee was any good because the cup smelled as if it wasn't washed with soap. I let it go cold and asked the waitress for a fresh cup..... although she was nice the new cup has the same issue...So that was a no go. the over hard eggs had slimy whites and the sausage didn't look like real sausage.. Didn't look like meat, more like a mans junk before the snipping if you get my drift.. Sorry, as much as I like the atmosphere the food was awful. This was my second visit so I probably wont be back.. :o( Oh and watch the tip.. I think they add it automatically so I ended up tipping twice.... That definitely was the final turn off.

Fun place to eat. Atmosphere is great, everyone comes here. Makes you feel at home. Food is very large and feeling. Love the pine doors in the bathroom, and the pine arched ceiling. Just has a great feeling. My fav is the Farmers Omelet with gravy sauce, and potatoes mixed in it. Smile. Great comfort food, and atmosphere.

Love this restaurant, bright open space neat decor. Fabulous food, large portion always presented well. Sincere service and hospitality. Love the displays and sales of local knick knacks. Today I had their special Hawaiian omlet it was fabulous and their county potatoes are excellent.

Great service, large portions & consistently good food! The prices are reasonable. The atmosphere is ok, better than the average cafe. The best place to eat in bg, i just wish they were open for dinner! ! There is often a short wait during the busy times - full of old timers who know good value, good food & friendly staff!

So I went here on recommendation from family. The service was fair. The food was a bit salty. Nothing special. Was kind of disappointed as many people have really talked this place up.

We had lunch here once and had mothers day brunch one. It was overly priced I felt. We just ordered club sandwich and fries and a strawberry lemonade. It was good but nothing social

Best Breakfast and Lunch spot in town! Granted there are a few other places in town for one or the other, but you can't find the courteous and happy people that you do at the Hockinson Cafe!... And the homemade pies don't hurt their rep either!

Hockinson is a regular treat for us. We always come for their breakfasts. My favorite items are the eggs benedict (no one does it better than them) and the biscuits & gravy (to die for). Their staff is always so helpful, thorough, and they really make you feel like family. Absolutely wonderful place to eat and get together.

I ordered breakfast on a weekday, and it was a very large portion of cheap, fairly bland food. The lunches coming out of the kitchen looked better, but I only tried breakfast options. The pancakes weren't bad, and the salsa was fresh and delicious. The biscuit tasted like it was frozen at some point, then thawed and refrozen. Lots of staff, so the service was super quick. I would recommend it for a big hungry family, but not for someone looking for more flavor than filler.

Usually a very nice place for breakfast, but got moldy toast this morning. Other than that, always a great place to eat.

I've been here many times because of my grandpa. Most are very nice to him which I appreciate, however last time I came here our server was very rude. They've always allowed my family to order off of the senior/kids menu because we want less food. I've never been turned down. However, this time our waiter named Brady or something looked at my sister and very seriously said, "How old are you?" when she clearly does not fit the age range, so it was just plain rude. He could've politely explained to her that she could not and offered her a similar item from the regular menu. We're not trying to rip them off, we promise. Some people (who aren't children or seniors) don't want to eat a boatload of potatoes, eggs, and bread. After that incident he was very serious and continued to be rude and unwelcoming. He brought our overabundance of food and I reached out to take my plate from him which he jerked away and exclaimed, 'SOMETIMES THEY'RE HOT!' as he leaned over my sister to put my plate in front of me. When I touched the plate it was barely even warm. The food was cold. He knew what temperature the plate was also, because he had been touching it with his own hands, so he was just being an asshole and was on a massive power trip. It's a shame that one guy can really ruin a restaurant for you.

First time at this restaurant and came for breakfast. We were seated in about 5 minutes and our server came immediately to the table for drink orders. I ordered the country fried steak and country potatoes. My husband had the special of an itialian omelet. The food came out promptly and HOT. My chicken fried steak was very hot from first bite to last bite. No lukewarm food here. We thoroughly enjoyed the biscuits and would come back just for them. Would hightly recommend this restaurant for breakfast. Haven't tried lunch or dinner but it certainly would be something we might do if we are in the Battle Ground area.

I recently when here a few times with a friend of mine, who has been telling about this place for years. The food was good (I got the chicken fried steak both times) the service was great. I drink a lot of coffee with my breakfast and both times my coffee cup never ran out. The second time I went there I got a side of sausage links. They were the best sausage links I have ever had!! The prices were standard breakfast prices. They are a little out of the way for me, since I live in Vancouver. It took me around 30mins to get there. But I definitely will be coming back!

We had breakfast on Saturday. The place was packed to the rim and the food was quite good. Don't mistake their bar area tables as first come first served. We did and jumped to the counter that is open seating. Food was quite good, we had the special and it was well made. We'd definitely eat there again. Simple country food that is very much comforting. Lunch and breakfast are very busy so expect to wait. But if your in Battleground and looking for food it's a great choice.

We've been here for breakfast twice on weekdays. The first time we went my brother had the biscuits and gravy and I ordered pancakes. The gravy tasted like pepper and flour, the biscuits were not fully baked, and the pancakes tasted like...pepper. Hmmm. We went back a second time, because we know that anyone can have a bad day. The second time, we were seated in the 'bar area' because none of the tables in the main area had been cleared. My brother ordered biscuits and gravy again, but this time I had a go with eggs and sausage. Again, the gravy tasted like nothing but black pepper. The eggs and sausage were overcooked and cold. Our server brought the food, and then disappeared for half an hour. No other servers would make eye-contact with us, so we never got more coffee. Overall a very disappointing experience in Battle Ground, which is already pretty much a restaurant wasteland.

I've only been here for breakfast but their breakfast is great and their prices are reasonable. They have lots of great seating, including a decent sized meeting room. The place is well lit and feels like home. Great place to take the family!

Very crowded with long waits even after 1:30 on a Sunday. Food was just average and service was inattentive. Seemed like the goal was to get people in and out rather than caring about a friendly environment. Would not rush back.

For a breakfast cafe, this is as good as it gets in the local area. Reasonable prices, sizable portions, and almost everything is very tasty. I am sure lunch is a good bet as well. The staff is pretty friendly too. Been here lots of times.

My wife and I stopped in on a recent monring during the snow and power outage in the area. The restauarant was busy. We were promptly seated and ordered in a reasonable period of time. We both had omelette's. Food was delivered in a reasonable period of time with the prices in the $8 range plus beverages. The food was decent but non descript. Nothing wrong but nothing that stood out. The question we always ask ourselves after eating out is whether we will return. In this case it's a maybe but there is nothing to encourage us to come back.

Review is for the Battle Ground location (on 20th Ave). Have visited this location several times since it opened, always for weekend brunch. Cafe is always busy when we are there, so we generally opt for the bar seating rather than waiting for a table. Food is plentiful, tasty, and reasonably priced. We also stopped in during the afternoon last weekend after running errands, to grab a couple milkshakes. Major thumbs up on the shakes!!!!!!!! Hand-dipped, real ice-cream there's no fake-shake mix here. Chocolate malt is the best! And a good-sized portion to boot. Just be sure to stop in before 3pm, which is when they close.
